The Sand Lake Community Council meets the 1st Monday of each month at 6:30 pm at Sand Lake Elementary School.
The Sand Lake Community Council is the westernmost community council in the city of Anchorage, encompassing the geographic area between Campbell Lake/Dimond Blvd on the south, International Airport Rd on the north, Minnesota Drive on the east, and the ocean on the west. Our purpose is to encourage active participation in neighborhood and community events, activities, schools–all of those things that make a viable city–and to advise the Anchorage Assembly and other groups about our area.
Q. Why should I get involved with the Sand Lake Community Council?
People join SLCC because they care about their community. Often people attend their first meeting because of something happening in their neighborhood that they are concerned about, be it a proposed rezone, nuisance behavior by neighbors, or road construction (or lack of it). The meetings are an easy, comfortable place to communicate with community leaders, legislators and neighbors about how to make Sand Lake an even better place to live, work and play. It’s an opportunity to just sit and listen for a couple of hours once a month, learning things you would never know otherwise, and often protecting your investment in your home or business.
